dissolving experiment

Today a simple science experiment was set up for the kids, it was about understanding dissolving principles. It is a challenging concept , but I tried to make it easy for the kids to understand.
I brought some cups and water and some substances like:rice , sugar , salt and pepper, then I explained what we are going to do,  Musa was excited and curious about the experiment , he asked me three times " what we are going to do teacher  "? He can't wait.  I gave him a cup of water and I asked him to put some sugar into the water and stir the mixture well for 30 seconds ,After that I asked him "are you able to see the sugar Musa "? No I can't see, it's gone" he replied.then we put some pepper into another cup of water to see what will happen. Musa stired the mixture for 30 seconds, he was so surprised that the pepper didn't dissolve . At this point , Musa asked me "why the pepper has not gone "?.Finally I illustrated for all the kids what dissolving means (for a property to become broken up or observed by something or to disappear into something else ).and they understood everything.

Review of learning : through this experiment, Musa learnt what dissolving means that some substances can dissolve easily and others can not. This experiment was a change  for Musa because he is usually more interested in arts. He was very happy and had a curious open mind.

Next time :I will do my best to extend your curiosity and make sure that you are exposed to different areas in school.

Play house

Today morning when Musa came to the center I was observing him to see what he would do. At first he wandered around the room, and then he went to the art area and picked some cartons and sat down. I began pay attention carefully because it seemed worth watching. I sat down next to him and he directly asked me "teacher, can you guess what I'm going to do "?"Oh Musa, I can't imagine what you will come up with but I'm sure it's something exciting".
After that he asked me to help him stick the cartons together and make them into circle. I liked the idea and I was wondering what he is going to do. Finally he made a big slide and stocked it in the middle of the circle "it's nice and funny", he said, and laughed.
"Musa tell me now what did you make"? I asked him." it’s a play house teacher", he said.
Review of learning: through this experience I observed you Musa as a confident and involved learner. I watched you as expressed wonder and interest in your environment "can you guess what I'm going to do" followed and extended on your own interest with enthusiasm, energy, and concentration smiling I could see how proud and happy you were with your play house, you worked very hard to create it.
What is next: I will encourage you Musa to be involved learner and improve your
fine motor skills as much as I can.
